What are the benefits of employing an apprentice?
No matter how big or small your business is it can sometimes become difficult to find new employees with the right skills. By employing a young person as an apprentice you can train him or her to your way of working.

Who can I employ?
This could be anyone over the age of 16, male or female from any background, it may be someone you already know or you may need our help to try and find someone suitable. Our initial assessment helps to identify those people we think can successfully complete the course.
How long is the apprenticeship?
The average length of an apprenticeship is 42 months although this time could vary depending on age, previous qualifications and the ability to cover the range of work. To see the Electrical Installation Apprenticeship Framework Structure click here.
How much will the training cost?
All learners must be employed and have supervised guidance. The employer is expected to meet the cost of the apprentices' wages. Training is FREE for under 19 age group as fully funded by the Skills Funding Agency. For apprentices aged 19+ there is reduced funding available, the employer will be expected to pay a contribution towards the training costs. Apprentices with DCET Training receive a FREE one day certified Health & Safety course, Emergency First Aid half day course and a reduced cost for the Inspection and Testing qualification after the apprenticeship is complete.
Where does the training take place?
DCET Training have centres in Exeter, Plymouth and Redruth. We operate a day release system (one day per week during term times), the rest of the time is spent with you in the workplace. All of our lecturers and assessors have themselves worked in the electrical industry so we have a good understanding of life on the tools.
